Chief Richard - Loltong Village, Pentecost
Richard is paramount chief of the village of Loltong in Noth Pentecost. He's a spry, shrewd 72 year old politician who's thrived in a social system that is rife with intrigue, infighting and petty jealousies.
He remains extremely active, physically and politically. He sure tired my friend Dave and me out when he took us on a tour of the village and its environs. That jaunt turned into one of the best examples of quiet lobbying I've ever experienced. Olympic bid committee members the world over could learn a thing or two from him.
